Description

The Fletchers were originally arrow makers associated with the Stewarts and Campbells in Argyll and with the MacGregors in Perthshire

Simlar to the Davidson tartan

This sett comes from the MacGregor-Hastie collection in the Scottish Tartans Society

Whether this was intended or simply a mistake is entirely open to conjecture but it would not be the first new design to have arisen from an error in the threadcount

The chiefship today is vacant

DRUMMOND OF PERTH (WEATHERED) GENERAL The Fletchers were originally arrowAlso known as the 'Perthshire or Drummond', 'Perthshire Rock & Wheel' or the 'Drummond of Perth'. This sett is said to be a variation of a pattern called 'Stewart of Fingask', after a plaid allegedly left by Prince Charles Edward Stuart at Fingask in Perthshire in 1746 (William Wilsons of Bannockburn' 1819 Key Pattern Book no. 78, ed. Peter MacDonald 1996). Also recorded in James Logan 'The Scottish Gael' 1831.
